If we had to pick the two most widely (slash excessively) reported San Francisco micro-news stories of 2010, they would probably be the late-April spree of street art by the world’s most famous graffiti artist, Banksy, and the slow, tumultuous demise of the world’s most famous Castro sandwich shop, Ike’s Place.
Given how gigantic each of these stories was on its own, what would happen if somehow they miraculously converged?

Upper Playground is running a contest for invitations to the premiere of the new film “Exit Through the Gift Shop” by legendary street artist Banksy, which will debut on April 14th at 7:30pm at the Mission’s Victoria Theatre, followed by an afterparty at SOM. Bar.
To snag your invite, as well as a $100 gift certificate (!) to Upper Playground, just submit a photo of yourself “standing next to a cop with a handmade sign that has the movie title (Exit Through the Gift Shop) on it.” Sounds appropriately subversive to us.
If you’re not familiar with Banksy’s work, he has left his mark on sidewalks, billboards, and bridges the world over. He even targeted an apartment building in the Lower Haight in 2005:
Should be an interesting film and a fun night. Anybody know a cop we could borrow?
