Bean There Gets Laptop-Friendlier. Is This a Good Thing?

posted by Andrew Dudley on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 7:37 am

Bean There, one of our favorite local coffeeshops, has made a couple of subtle changes in recent weeks that should please laptop users.

First, they’ve set out a couple of power strips, meaning you can now plug in from most of the indoor tables. Second, they’ve ditched the unreliable, time-restricting ZRNet in favor of an open wifi network with a strong signal. No more getting booted every half hour with no warning.

This is definitely good news for folks who need to plug in and get online. But is this trend good for the rest of us? Have hipsters on Macbooks taken over your once-favorite cafe, making it nearly impossible to get a table?

Let us know where you come down on this explosive issue in the comments.
